We don’t fit part worn tyres

Using partially worn tyres (part-worn tyres) comes with certain drawbacks and risks that make them less favourable than new tyres. At Earley Tyres, we don’t fit part worn tyres. Here are some reasons why using part-worn tyres may not be the best choice:

  • Safety Concerns: Part-worn tyres have already been used by another vehicle, and their condition and performance may be compromised. They might have worn tread patterns, reduced tread depth, or hidden internal damage. Such factors can affect their grip, handling, and braking performance. Thus this can increase the risk of accidents, especially in adverse weather conditions.
  • Unknown History: When purchasing part-worn tyres, it’s difficult to determine their history. It’s impossible to know  the conditions under which they were previously used. They may have been subjected to improper repairs, driven on improperly inflated, or overloaded vehicles, or exposed to hazardous road conditions. Therefore, this uncertainty can compromise their structural integrity and overall safety.
  • Limited Lifespan: Part-worn tyres have already gone through a portion of their lifespan. Accordigly, they will have less remaining tread depth compared to new tyres. This means they may need to be replaced sooner, resulting in additional expenses in the near future.
  • Reduced Performance: Tyre technology constantly evolves, and newer tyres are designed to provide optimal performance, safety, and fuel efficiency. Part-worn tyres may lack the advancements and improvements found in newer tyre models. Consequently, this can lead to a subpar performance in terms of grip, handling, noise reduction, and fuel efficiency.
  • Legal Requirements: In some countries or regions, there are specific regulations regarding the minimum tread depth allowed for tyres to be considered roadworthy. Part-worn tyres might not meet these legal requirements, and using them could result in fines or penalties.
  • Lack of Warranty: Part-worn tyres generally do not come with a warranty or guarantee, unlike new tyres. This means that if you encounter any issues or defects with the tyres after purchasing them, you will not have any recourse for compensation or replacement.

Generally, considering the importance of tyres in maintaining vehicle safety, performance, and efficiency, drivers should opt for new tyres whenever possible. New tyres offer the assurance of quality, warranty coverage, and optimal performance. Regularly replacing your tyres with new ones ensures maximum safety and peace of mind on the road.
